Soft Tissue or Deep Tissue?

Deep Tissue Massage reaches the deeper layers of the muscles. It is used to break down knots, adhesions, scar tissue and relieve pressure points such as trigger points throughout the body. This massage is used to treat general aches and pain caused by day-to-day life and particularly beneficial for athletes and for those who sit for long periods of time.  Jerome uses Deep Tissue when performing Sports and Remedial Massage but if you would rather a Soft Tissue Massage please book a Swedish Massage. Whichever massage you choose we will always work within your own particular level of comfort!

Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage Therapy is not just for relaxation, it goes well beyond that.  It is exceptionally beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension.  Recent studies show that volunteers who received a 45-minute Swedish massage experienced significant decreases in levels of the stress hormone cortisol, as well as arginine vasopressin-a hormone that can lead to increases in cortisol. Volunteers also had increases in the number of lymphocytes, white blood cells that are part of the immune system, and a boost in the immune cells that may help fight colds and flu.
Ally has trained in different techniques over the years and treats each client according to their needs so if you only need one technique that is what she will use or if you need all techniques then she will use them all in your therapeutic massage.

Reflexology

Reflexology Therapy

Reflexology is a science that deals with the principle that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands that correspond to all of the glands, organs and parts of the body.  It is a unique method of using the thumb and fingers on these reflex areas.  Stimulating these reflexes properly may help many health problems in a natural way by correcting any imbalances in the body.

Reflexology allows the body to enter into a deep state of relaxation which allows the body to stimulate its own healing properties.  Its long term application is also a type of preventative maintenance.  Reflexology is a serious advance in the health field and should not be confused with foot massage.  Many health insurance policies cover reflexology.

Reflexology may be useful to some people who experience difficulties with:

  • Anxiety and sleep disorders

  • Hormone imbalance

  • Headaches or migraines

  • Digestive problems

  • Skin problems

  • Joint and muscular pain.

Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage

The award winning technique RLD, is bringing relief to lymphoedema and lipoedema patients everywhere.  It focuses on stimulating the lymphatic reflexes on the feet.  The aim is to cause an effect on the lymphatic system in the body.  It is a unique sequence that has been researched and developed by Sally Kay, whilst working in Cancer Care.

Swelling can be reduced within the affected arm(s) hands, feet and legs, and this may bring significant relief to sufferers of this often painful, movement limiting condition.

Results are on par with manual lymphatic drainage, RLD may be used similarly. Clinical experience and further evidence from a growing body of case studies suggests that RLD can also be useful with many other conditions including:

  • Fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, M.E and other auto-immune disorders

  • Hormone imbalance, night sweats and PMS

  • Arthritis and other Aches & Pains

  •  Digestive issues such as IBS, colitis and Crohns

  •  Asthma

  • Eczema

  • Sinus problems

  • Migraines & headaches

  • Muscular tension

The Bergman Method of Facial Reflexology

Ziggie Bergman is the UK's foremost facial reflexologist and founder of 'The Bergman Method' Facial Reflexology. This award-winning specialist advanced facial reflexology treatment, using the Bergman Method is firmly based on Zone Theory and is the only accredited facial using this modality. I was personally taught this technique by Ziggie at The London School of Reflexology,  Regents University.

The healing experience of facial reflexology not only gives you all the benefits of foot reflexology, in promoting deep relaxation helping to relieve many symptoms of stress and fatigue, it also gives you a rejuvenating transformation through lifting and sculpting facial muscles by stimulating blood flow, increasing circulation to the face and head.

Using a range of massage and natural facelift techniques, facial reflexology has a wonderful effect on the skin in helping to strengthen layers of skin tissue and improving skin tone, leaving it looking radiant and glowing with an uplifting effect. Over a series of sessions, there may be a reduction in lines and wrinkles too, with frown lines appearing smoothed and an improved skin tone all round.

Facial Reflexology is very effective in improving lymphatic drainage encouraging the elimination of toxins and has distinctive benefits for certain conditions for example:

  • migraines

  • bruxism

  • bell palsy

  • relieve muscle tension, mental strain, headaches & migraines

  • sinusitis and congestion problems

  •  insomnia

  • lack of energy

  • IBS and other stress-related issues

It can also be particularly useful for people suffering with neurological conditions by working closely with the central nervous system and the muscles of the face and head.
